The "Patient Protection and Affordability Care of Act" of 2010 now requires all not-for-profit hospitals to complete a CHNA every three years beginning in 2012. The National Center for Rural Health Works has developed a CHNA template for hospitals to utilize to completed their CNHA requirements under the new law. The CNHA toolkit is designed for state level professionals to facilitate the process in rural communities with rural hospitals at no or low cost to the hospital.
